Fishing for the Wrong Fish

The case rises and plateaus in a continuous cycle, where stakeholders must now consider the pertinent question, what direction is this case heading towards?

The case appears to be classic arson vandalism, which is commonplace for failing businesses, in typical cases it’s either because of management issues or due to money laundering, but this general delineation is just the tip of the iceberg.


This, however, is a special case where the building, is well insured. Bhuvayarathi International School, was burned down and incurred just above USD 10,000 in damage. This occurrence has unfortunately happened twice, and both trials in the past were dismissed as mistrials. By probability, there is little hope for this trail to succeed in passing a verdict. Logically, this assumption could also be a result of cognitive biases and lawyers may actually be able to juice out a verdict over trials that will take place; nevertheless, for this to happen, lawyers need to fish for details that were never brought up in previous trials.

This is a far bigger case where something may be easy to say, but if members of the court change their perspectives by even a little, a whole different aspect of the case can be uncovered.


The question of doubt now mounts upon the lunch lady is always the last one to leave the school and that the fire started in the kitchen itself. The lawyers part of this case must now think out of the box if they are to fight for justice and peace, for it is their duty to do so for not only the community but to everyone who is affected by this case.
